As the new year begins and students return, we have many new staff members joining the Howard family. Over the next few posts, we’ll give you a chance to read about these outstanding teachers, paraeducators, etc.
Ms. Miller
My name is Señorita Miller and I am teaching Spanish I, Spanish II, and Spanish II Honors this year at Howard High School! I moved to Howard County in June 2015 from Wilmington, DE, but I’m originally from a small town in Pennsylvania. I have a Bachelor’s of Arts in Spanish Education from the University of Delaware, where I played on the Varsity Women’s Soccer team for four years and received Regional All-American Honors. Currently, I am studying to get my Master’s in Education. In 2012, I spent the summer in Barcelona, Spain and the experience was amazing. While this is my first year at Howard High, it will be my third year teaching high school Spanish. I am so excited to become a part of the Howard community! Go Lions!
Mrs. Mohr
Hello, I’m Mrs. Mohr and I am a library media specialist at Howard High School. I’m a Penn State University and Drexel Alumna. Prior to coming to Howard, I was an elementary media specialist at Phelps Luck and Waterloo Elementary Schools. I have also had experience teaching Biology and Nutrition in Philadelphia, PA. I have a passion for helping students become effective and informed users of technology and want to help them develop a lifelong love for reading and learning. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, cooking, running and spending time with my husband and cat, Nittany.
Mrs. Demaree
I’m excited to join the Howard High Community this year as it’s Reading Specialist. I come to Howard High School with 28 years of experience teaching reading & English. A few of my favorite authors are David Baldacci, Vince Flynn, Mauve Binchy, Jack London, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and John Grisham.
I have been happily married for 28 years. We have four children who all attended Howard County schools. I’ve lived all over the country. My family has been with the National Park Service for generations, so I am fortunate to have lived in some of the most beautiful places in the country, including Acadia NP, Olympic NP, Harpers Ferry NP, Mammoth Cave NP, The Blue Ridge Pkwy, and Grand Teton NP. Later, when I married my husband, who was in the Navy, we moved all around the United States and traveled to many different countries.
For fun I like to read and run. I typically read a couple of books a week and run anywhere from 30 to 70 miles a week, depending on what I’m training for and how many student essays I need to grade.
I’m looking forward to meeting the Howard High School community.
Mr. Bulger
